Description:
Medium sized bird, with similar behavior to stonechat. Male has white supercilium and dark mask; upperparts grey to almost black, depending on extent of wear; underparts whitish underparts with grey breast and flanks. Female has buff supercilium and rufous rump and tail sides.
Distribution:
Possible summer visitor to the southern parts of Diamer and Astore districts. Found in open scrubby, bush-covered hillsides, edges of pine and broadleaf evergreen forest, terraced agricultural land and gardens; from lowlands to 2400m.
Behavior:
Feeding habits typical of genus, flying down from conspicuous perch to take prey on ground, but also sallies in air. Commonly perches in trees, as well as on lower features. Chiefly feeds on smaller insects, including beetles and grasshoppers, also spiders and small molluscs; occasionally seeds.
